Yuleba War Memorial

Yuleba War Memorial ~ manufacture, laser etching and installation by J.H. Wagner & Sons ~ 2016.

The Yuleba War Memorial was designed by Rounsefell Design in co-ordination with Maranoa Regional Council.   J.H. Wagner & Sons provided consultation for the selection of granites and successfully tendered the granite supply, manufacture, laser etching, sandblasting and installation in 2016.   The monument consists of four Snow Flake granite corner columns with tapered profile and polished finish.   Fixed between the columns is a metal artwork of Poppies.   Two Black granite wall blocks each constructed from two solid slabs of Black granite provide the memorial with laser etched artwork of a painted mural located in the nearby Yuleba community hall and plain incised (natural) sandblasted letters for the Honour Rolls for those who served.   Also featured on the memorial is a laser etched image of Dead Man's Penny of John Francis McNulty.   A penny measuring approximately 120mm diameter was sent to the family of the deceased bearing the image of the King, a Lion, a defeated Eagle, the name of the deceased and inscription HE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOUR, becoming known as a Dead Man's Penny.

Black granite panels with laser etched inscriptions for dedication and funding acknowledgement have been fixed to the internal faces of the Snow Flake granite columns.

J.H. Wagner & Sons have a long association with communities in the Maranoa Regional Council area for the supply, installation and maintenance of War Memorials and have supplied new memorials at Roma, Mitchell, Wallumbilla and Yuleba with maintenance of the Surat and Mitchell War Memorials.
