Sandgate RSL Sub Branch War Memorial

Set in the grassy entrance area to the Sandgate RSL Sub Branch is a striking Black granite War Memorial.

Five Black granite solid wall stones form a curved profile to the wall displaying images from Australia's earliest international service, each war arena, the land army, nursing and recent engagements of Afghanistan and Iraq.  The images have been blended to provide an informative collage which has been laser etched into the face of the Black granite.

The centre wall stone also displays the gilded crest of the Australian Army and gold incised letters.  Two Black granite base pieces with tapered edges provide  the gold incised dedication text and coloured Poppies.

The design, manufacture, graphics preparation, laser etching, delivery and installation of the Sandgate RSL Sub Branch War Memorial was completed in 2014 by J.H. Wagner & Sons.

A special thanks is extended to the committee of Sandgate RSL Sub Branch for the efforts of fundraising to achieve this memorial, re-design of the surrounding landscape to include granite bollard separation from the carpark and the installation of floodlighting.
