James Sangster Memorial refurbished by J.H. Wagner & Sons.
The memorial to Constable James Sangster is located in Ipswich, Queensland and an upgrade of the park area by Ipswich City Council provided J.H. Wagner & Sons with the opportunity to successfully tender the dismantle of the memorial, extensive cleaning, re-surfacing works and re-erection of the memorial. The broken top on the sandstone spire represents life cut short in tragic circumstances. The inscription reads 'Erected by public subscription in memory of Constable James Sangster who lost his life in a gallant attempt at rescue in the flood waters of the Brisbane River 5th Feb. 1893.'
