Catherine McAuley life sized carved statue manufactured by J.H. Wagner & Sons.
Catherine McAuley was the foundress of Sisters of Mercy and to commemorate 140 years of Mercy Education in Ipswich, J.H. Wagner & Sons were commissioned to supply a life size carved statue of Catherine McAuley. For the authenticity of clothing and to allow the school committee the opportunity to approve the statue design a mannequinn was first produced and then used as the model for the sandstone carving. A Blue Pearl granite panel has been recessed into the statue base with inscription in white incised letters. The statue of Catherine McAuley is located at St. Mary's College, Ipswich.
